Medical Applications

Many of the chemical species found in the human body have significant absorption structure in the 2100-2400nm wavelength range. These include Glucose, Lactate, Ascorbate, Urea, and Ethanol. Measurement of these species concentrations are important for a variety of reasons ranging from blood sugar level control for diabetics to blood alcohol level in DUI enforcement. Ubiquilight lasers under development can access this wavelength range, enabling advanced analysis systems that are high precision at low cost.
